Lucy was running, harder than she ever ran before. She was just lifting a few parts she needed for the ride she was working on from a low-security warehouse. She hadn’t expected the Empire to send so much manpower to chase her over something so minor. Mostly she got away without getting caught or at worst a patrol of two emps. As she watched the airship overhead she knew that they were pulling out all the stops to catch her. As she turned a corner she ran into two emps, brandishing their harpoon guns. She activated her spring boots to leap at the two. They both fired their guns, one shot grazing her leg. She grabbed the pair using her mechanical gauntlets delivering a shock which knocked them out cold. As she landed she realized she wasn’t going to be able to run on that leg for much longer. That was no obstacle for Lucy Hasselquist however! She pulled the grappling gun out of her belt and took aim for a nearby building. The thrill she felt as she was pulled along the rope was something she never got tired of.
However, she realized she had made a mistake: she had eluded the Empire for now, but there were no other buildings around for her to grapple to next. It was only a matter of time before the Empire’s airship noticed her. Except she saw that another airship was heading right toward her, she couldn’t believe her luck. She waited for it to get close enough, took aim at the deck, and fired. Much to her surprise as she soared towards it, the door to the cabin was already open, as if the crew was expecting a passenger.

Lucy peered into the doorway to see if there really was any crew aboard this oddly quiet yet convenient vessel. As she looked in she saw a desk with a chair spun backwards behind it. Lucy cautiously stepped in to investigate when the chair suddenly spun about and the doors behind her closed and locked with a loud mechanical clink. In the chair was a man with his hands clasped together on a cane and his legs crossed. He had a large smile under his large curly mustache with his equally large top hat bent down low covering his eyes. He leaned towards the desk. “Welcome aboard my petite airship Miss Lucy Hasselquist,” he said adjusting his hat to show his pale blue eyes and odd mechanical gold monocle.
“Huh, you know my name. I didn’t know I was that famous,” she said while still looking around.
“Of course!” the man said happily. “I’ve had my eyes on you for quite some time, you’re quite a fine young lass and I simply had to meet you myself to see what you could do.”
“Whoa, you’re a little old for me and I don’t even know your name yet!” Lucy chuckled.
“Oh, my most sincere apologies! My title is Baron Von WolfnVeisel and I have actually brought you aboard my illustrious vessel to inquire of your talents in a certain project if I may.”
“And why would a Baron be hiring a wanted criminal?”
“Oh never you fear! Such a trifle shall be a thing of the past or least a minor concern if you would agree to my proposal.”
“Good to see honesty still alive in the Empire… I guess that doesn’t give me much choice, but I’d still like to know more before I sign my life away.”
“Oh I’m so glad you asked! It’s really rather exciting you see. You are a woman with much talent in the ways of mechanical ingenuity and… unauthorized entry, which are precisely the things I need to aid me in my endeavors to gain the upper hand against an evil and dastardly rival corporation!”
“Oh I see, you want a thief like me to steal secrets from your competitors. I have to say I’m kinda flattered you handpicked me for such a thing.”
“Hoho I could only have the best! But I must say this task could prove to be slightly dangerous and it may require more than simply taking secrets. This is a fight for the good and the honor of our fair city! The people are depending on RedSkies Industries!”
“RedSkies Industries, huh? You guys do make some quality parts. Well, I don’t know about the good and honor of our city, but I do like a fight.”
“And I’m sure you’ll get in a few! We shall discuss the details later, as they say, but now I believe we have arrived back at my industrial headquarters.”
As he said this the doors unlocked and opened automatically to show they had indeed arrived and already softly landed on a tall building in the industrial part of the city.
“I’m afraid I have a pressing meeting to attend to, but a room has been already arranged for your stay with us for this time." They walked off the ship and entered the building together with a few attendants meeting them.

Lucy was being escorted through the building by a pair of the Baron’s servants. The two led her into a simple dumbwaiter elevator. It was fancier than most, but nothing she hadn’t seen before. As she glanced at the controls however, she got a sense of just how big this building was: at least X stories. The elevator stopped after only about 5 floors however and the trio exited. As they walked through the hallway Lucy realized that everything about this building was designed to exude opulence, standing as a symbol of the wealth and power of the Red Skies Corporation. They walked for a bit, then one of the servants stumbled with a key for a second then turned it and opened a door.
As Lucy entered the Servant handed her the key and said, “Welcome to your new apartment Miss Hasselquist. Lucy was astounded; she saw a lot of the city’s wealthy zipping over the streets, but other than the factories she robbed she hadn’t been in a building that wasn’t abandoned in quite some time. It was the nicest apartment she had ever seen. Clearly no expense had been spared on the furniture: plush, red velvet couches surrounded an ornate mahogany coffee table in the living room. The far wall of the room was a giant window which gave quite a good view of the city. The servants showed her the incredibly spacious bedroom attached to the living room. There was a well-made queen-sized bed with a fancy looking nightstand and a closet with more space for clothes than Lucy would be comfortable owning.
“The master will be with you later to discuss in detail your duties and the rest of your arrangements,” said one of the servants, “In the meantime, make yourself at home in here.” The two servants left. Lucy looked around the apartment and realized that there was no way she was working on an machines in here, which meant that she wasn’t waiting for the baron to take a look around.
In truth, Lucy had a lot of doubts about this whole thing. She was used to living free and wasn’t sure she could handle living on another person’s schedule. Still she hadn’t been in any position to refuse the baron’s offer earlier. So she had to go along with things at least for a little bit. She entered the elevator again making sure no one was in it. She examined the controls, seeing that a key was required to go to the basement levels. This made it them the most likely target for what she was looking for.
It was no secret that humanoid machines had emerged in the last year or so, but a few disassembled parts were the closet Lucy had come to seeing one. A chance to see the R & D department of one of the corporations producing these so called robots was one she was not going to miss. She pulled a lockpick out of one of the several pouches she had on her belt and easily forced the low quality lock. She patiently waited while the elevator went down the many stories of Red Skies. Finally the doors began to open. The walls were lit with fancy electric lights, experimental ones no doubt. There weren’t any people in her immediate vicinity but she heard footsteps from her right. She didn’t want to get found yet, easier to ask for forgiveness than permission and all that so she dashed to her left.
At the end of a hallway she saw a door that wasn’t like the others , it looked as if it hadn’t been used in quite some time. It had some kind of button activated lock on it but Lucy was able to fry it with her gauntlets and force the door open. It was dark inside so she fumbled around for a switch or something while walking guided by the faint light of her gauntlets. Her hand pressed something and she heard a machine whirring to life.

The room began shaking uncontrollably, as if hit by a sudden earthquake. Parts rattled around and appeared to fuse together using a fusion that was a perfect balance between cold and warm. Lucy looked afraid as the form grew larger and larger. Reds turned to blues. Blues turned to yellows. Yellows turned back to reds. Suddenly, bright lights began to appear in the center of the red hulk. They arranged in a seemingly recognizable form, and looked absolutely menacing. The form slowly rose to the vaulted ceiling and screamed "FEAR ME, FOR I AM VOLTRON. I HAVE COME TO SLAY THE WEAK AND TAKE BACK WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE".
The hulk immediately changed from a red to a white color and fell to the ground.
"Just kidding," it said happily, "the name's Clank. I've been stuck down here for longer than I can remember, which honestly isn't very long. What day is it?"
"Its Wednesday" Lucy said, not believing what she is seeing.
"OH MY ROBOT OVERLORDS ITS BEEN THAT LONG!? Its been at least a long time then, if not longer. Alright then. Lets figure out how to get out of here."
Clank spontaneously sprouted robotic legs that looked similar to his core, and took a survey of his surroundings. "Looks like you've already cut us an opening, bully! I'm surprised you got all the way down here."
"It was easy as Old Domino Domios," Lucy replied. "Where exactly are we going?"
Clank didn't answer. He was too busy enjoying this first moment of freedom. His memory doesn't serve him as well as it used to back in the day, and so there was much to explore and to take in. While technology had drastically changed since his deactivation, embargoes on sentient robotics had limited advancement. His form shifted and changed to his liking. He could change into anything he wanted, and any color he wanted. Color was very important in Old Domino. Nobody is exactly sure why, but just roll with it.
"Whoa a red button," Clank said inquisitively. "Lets press it!"
"Clank I don't think that's a-"
The floor began to shake once again, and lights began to turn on throughout the complex. The floor opened and a circular object rose up. It was small, but had what seemed to be a cabin compartment in the center of it. It was impossible to tell, but it appeared to be made of the same material that Clank was. A knowing glow began to cross Clank's face.
"Hop in, but don't scratch the paint," Clank said as a small hatch appeared from nowhere, "It's my ride".
[Onto the next person! Hope this suffices for my first post. If there are any ways to improve let me know.]

"Well, by the stars and all that is holy; this meeting was an utter waste of time!" Baron von WolfnVeisel exited the ornate meeting room feeling quite displeased. He was to meet a Doctor Lawrence Graceton, but unfortunately the man failed to show. The doctor was originally delivering reports to Duke Gerald Charleston, but after all of Duke Charleston's royalties, honors, and wealth was transferred to Baron WolfnVeisel Graceton was now under the Baron's employment. Although the Baron had never met the doctor, the doctor's files and information on him regarded him as a very punctual man. His reports on the Egabbac company (coincidently RedSkies greatest rival) were never late to the late great Duke Charleston. Truly the most unfortunate part of this missed meeting was that Dr. Graceton was carrying all of the files from the Duke's holdings to the Baron and they would be missing if he did not show. Unknown to WolfnVeisel was the reason for the doctor's disappearance. The Doctor was traveling from an holding building outside Domino City's walls. Outside of the city was a sort of wasteland of savannah populated by small settlements and land marks before reaching other larger cities of the Empire and finally different terrain. But outside of Old Domino City there were many violent sorts of people whom wished to harm the innocent folks traveling along roads. If anyone were to go missing out there no one would suspect it was foul play beyond the typical sort that occurred outside the city limits. However, in the case of Dr. Lawrence Graceton another cause may have been a factor. Egabbac had discovered the doctor had been spying on their activities. And there are some things that Egabbac does not tolerate such as spies. Dr. Graceton's means of travel would be found days later, but it would almost be unrecognizable. The location of Dr. Graceton a mystery. But that's just getting ahead of where Baron von WolfnVeisel was at this time. One of the Baron's servants approached him as he stormed down the hallways with no particular location in mind. "Sir, if you are done with your meeting, it would seem we have an issue that requires your attention" A mindless lacky informed the Baron, "We've detected a strange power surge down in the research and development department."
"Blahh, poppy-cock! It's research and development, their suppose to have some strange power surges! There jobs are strange power surges!" The Baron declared as if he was finishing some sort of great speech.
"Sir, it-"
"I truly wish you to would not use my time in such a asinine manner!" WolfnVeisel was still perturbed by the lack of Graceton, "Why do you not simply just send one of our compatriots to look into the matter at hand? Take the young lad Martin from floor 3; he's quite an excited fellow ready to earn his way through our ranks."
"Oh yes sir, I will right away."
And so the young lad Martin was sent down to the R&D department to investigate the strange alterations of power being used down there.
